Other handy Microsoft powertoys include the feature-rich Power Calculator, a more graphical Alt-Tab Replacement, and the Virtual Desktop Manager, which lets you manage as many as four unique desktops from the Windows taskbar.īy now a cottage industry in itself, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of third-party powertoys that rival or surpass Microsoft’s efforts. Webcam Timershot also is fantastic, allowing you to take webcam snapshots at user-defined time intervals, turning the device into a simple but effective surveillance camera. Another excellent toy is the Image Resizer, which lets you perform individual or batch image resizing from anywhere in Windows, from the right-click context menu. Some of my favorite Microsoft powertoys include Tweak UI, which gives you access to dozens of hidden system settings not available through Windows’ standard user interface.
